Meet Laura Purcell
LPA
My passion to work with others in a caring and sympathetic manner has been present my whole life. Starting from an early age, I volunteered with youth as a tutor and mentor and spent my summers nannying. Into adulthood, I found joy in the art of coaching and leading young adults in to their athletic careers. Through these experiences, I have grown my confidence in my abilities to form collaborative relationships with others and that is what ultimately led me into counseling.
I graduated from the University of Louisville Counseling Psychology Program in 2018. Prior to pursuing my masters, I attended Loyola University Chicago on an athletic scholarship. My childhood and adolescent years were spent in and out of the gym, playing for Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy (KiVA) where I learned the importance of being a teammate and self-accountability. Through this experience I learned the importance of maintaining a personal life, with self-care time, while dedicating myself to my passions. For self-care and relaxation, I enjoy concerts, farmers markets, and local events.

My approach to therapy involves building a strong relationship with my client and offering an open, safe space for communication. I use a person-centered therapeutic alliance with cognitive-behavioral interventions. I believe recognizing what is in or out of your control can be both empowering and freeing. I will meet you where you are at in life or with your present issue and walk alongside you as you face your challenges as a supportive and caring influence to help you meet your goals. I look forward to meeting you and working together to produce the changes you would like to see!
